Abstract
Chile's cultural diversity is shaped by its Indigenous peoples, who contribute significantly to the nation's identity. This entry provides a comprehensive overview of cultural heritage law in Chile, highlighting the challenges posed by a Constitution drafted during a right-wing military regime. It offers a broader context for understanding these policies. While Chile has signed and ratified major conventions and treaties and has drafted several pieces of legislation aimed at protecting its diverse cultural heritage, the ongoing struggles faced by Indigenous peoples, who remain unrecognised by the Constitution, cast a shadow over Chile's stance on human rights.
